Welcome to this Adaptive Organisation Assessment. We’ve made the full version of this assessment publicly available for the following two purposes:
- It features in the forthcoming book Wholehearted: Engaging with Complexity in the Deliberately Adaptive Organisation (Mike Burrows, 2025)
- It provides input to the ongoing PhD research study described in our May 2024 blog post Help our research: an “Organisational DNA test”
Before you begin, think about which organisational scopes you identify with most strongly. As best you can, answer for all of them.
In accordance with our longstanding privacy policies, the research team will receive no identifying information with your data. A new metadata page does however ask for basic information on country, industry etc, and gives you the option (on an entirely opt-in basis) to be kept in contact with this work.
The assessment itself comes in 5 sections (one for each of the first five chapters of the book), 7 prompts per section, 35 prompts in total. The scoring scale is described on each of those pages.
All 5 sections are brought together on a review page at the end. Here, as well as the opportunity to revise your scores, you can allocate 6 stars as you wish across 3‑6 prompts. We suggest that you use these to indicate which prompts you think would be most important as the focus of change-related conversation. If any prompt brings to mind a story that you think might belong in the book, get in touch! You can reach us at support@agendashift.com.
